THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK

If you are looking for a one of a kind place to stay, you've come to the right place. Our accommodations are not your typical cookie-cutter home, they are a work in process, continuously evolving and improving to offer you a distinctive and memorable stay. We can't wait to have you stay with us, but here are some of the unique characteristics you should know before booking:  

  • Driveway: The driveway is dirt and a little bumpy. A car will be able to get to the home. Be mindful if it is raining the end of the driveway can become muddy.

  • Drinking water: We are on a well and the water from the sink is safe to drink. Bring bottled water if you have a water taste preference.

  • Stairs: The home is one level. There are two stairs on the outside patio to get into the front door and one stair to get into the AZ room.

  • Heat: The home utilizes baseboard heating.

  • Air Conditioning: AC is located in the bedrooms only. During the summer, a portable AC unit is located in the living room. The temperatures decrease overnight, opening windows helps to cool things down.

  • Security Cameras: There is one security camera on the front of the house facing the driveway and one in the back of the home. This is for the safety of the home and our guests. It also helps us see when the cleaner and maintenance folks come since we are remote hosts. We do not keep track of guests coming and going during their stay.

  • NO SMOKING: No smoking of any kind, including cigarettes, marijuana, e-cigarettes, vape pens, etc. If it is found that any member of the rental party, or guest of the rental party, has smoked inside the home, you will be charged a $500 fine

  • Wildlife: The home is slightly remote and wildlife of all sorts comes and goes, this may include deer, javelina, rabbits, snakes, birds, and insects. Be respectful of animals. Please do not feed any animals.

  • Pets: We welcome well behaved dogs (up to two) with a $50 pet deposit. Note that the yard is not fenced and our neighbor has dogs and cats. Please keep your dog on a leash for their safety. Poo bags will be provided, we ask that you clean up after your pet.

  • Septic System: The home is on a septic system, please be respectful not to put anything but water and natural human waste down the kitchen sink or toilets.

  • Bathrooms: The one full bathroom is located inside one of the bedrooms. There is a water closet (a room with a toilet) between the kitchen and AZ room.

What is the check-in/check-out time?

Check-in time is 3:00 PM, and check-out time is 11:00 AM.

Is there parking available at the property?

Yes, we have on-site parking available for our guests.

Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is provided for all guests.

Are linens and towels provided?

Yes, fresh linens and towels are provided for your stay.

Is the rental property pet-friendly?


Yes! We are dog friendly! There is a $50 nonrefundable pet fee per dog. We allow a maximum of 2 dogs. Dogs are not allowed on the furniture or beds and require a kennel if you plan to leave them in the home alone. Pet fee must be paid upon booking. Please note our yard is not securely fenced in so your dog must be on a leash. We have a lot of wildlife in the area, your dog must be supervised.

What is the cancellation policy?

What amenities are included in the rental property?

The rental property includes a fully equipped kitchen, TV, and basic toiletries.

Is smoking allowed in the rental property?

No, our rental property is strictly non-smoking.

Is there a minimum age requirement for guests?

Yes, guests must be at least 18 years old to book a reservation.

Are there any grocery stores or restaurants nearby?

We recommend bringing your own groceries, the Mini Market, Mercantile, and Dollar General in Sonoita are small with limited items. Larger grocery stores are nearby in Sierra Vista (About 35 minutes from TEP) For restaurant and winery recommendations, check out our “Experience Elgin” page. 

How far is the rental property from the nearest airport?

Tucson International Airport is approximately 52 miles.

Can I host a party or event at the rental property?

No, The Elgin Project is not suitable for parties or events.

Is there a laundry facility on-site?

Yes, we have a washer and dryer for guest use in the home.

How do I report a maintenance issue during my stay?

If you encounter any maintenance issues, please contact the hosts immediately, and they will assist you.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

No we do not have a minimum stay requirement.

Can I request an early check-in or late check-out?

Early check-in or late check-out requests are subject to availability. Please contact us in advance to make arrangements.

How do I access the rental property upon arrival?

We will provide you with detailed instructions on how to access the property before your arrival. We have a keypad door lock for ease of entry.
